Listening To: Dertli Dolap
By Özgür Baba
Quiet, meditative, but captivating performance. He's playing a cura, singing a song attributed to Sufi Yunus Emre (1238–1320), called Benim Adim Dertli Dolap. Apparently the lyrics are heavily metaphorical, with the title being translated as "My name is endless trouble" or "The troubled water wheel", as the opening line seeks to compare human advancement (especially technological) with endless toil, futility.
